Buyani Trust was set up in 2003 by the community members of Finetown Informal Settlement, located in the South of Johannesburg. We are an Independent Public Benefit Organization in terms of Section 18A of the Income Tax Act.
The sole objective of the Trust is to provide education for youth, learners and adults through the school, learning centre and projects.
The community school was started in 1988. Incredibly, already two generations has grown up in Buyani and some of them have taken positions as Buyani Staff, and School Governing Body Members. Buyani Trust employs 40 staff members from the community and neighbouring areas. The School Governing Body develop the policies and the School Management Team implement the policies. .
The Trust is accountable for the finances of the organization and reports to the Not For Profit Organisation its activities for the past financial year. Buyani Trust has had an unqualified audit since inception and prides itself on its stringent set of governance and fiduciary protocols.
We welcome companies, organisations and individuals to consider involvement in the on-going development of the Trust and itís very important activities. Buyani provides Finetown with leadership and a sense that we can do things for ourselves. This has promoted peace and stability in our community for many years and strive to continue to do this well into the future Ö. We would love to have you join us on this journey!
